John Barranco had been plagued by debilitating hip pain for many years after shredding his labrum (cartilage within the hip joint) while playing racquetball. As a father and recreational athlete, his inability to coach his son and participate in the sports he enjoyed motivated him to seek relief. After a number of conservative approaches failed to alleviate his suffering, John was referred to Wesley Clark, M.D., for an anterior right hip replacement.
Based on John’s patient profile, Dr. Clark recommended performing the hip replacement in an outpatient surgery center. John was excited by the prospect after he learned he would get to recover in the comfort of his own home. John followed the post-operative recovery plan, and he is now completely pain-free. The hip replacement gave him a new lease on life, allowing him to return to the golf course and to help his son develop as an athlete.
